Junk Removal in
Fulton, Armatage & Lynnhurst
The SW bungalow belt near Lake Harriet — block after block of well-kept 1920s bungalows and Tudors with full basements and detached alley garages, lived in for decades. The job here is almost always the same: a basement, garage and attic cleanout, carried up the stairs, with the damp spring-melt boxes handled right along with everything else. One flat, photo-quoted price — Minnesota sales tax already inside it, donation-routed to Bridging, same-week scheduling.
The Minneapolis job the coastal cities can't market
Fulton, Armatage and Lynnhurst (55410 and 55419) are the classic Southwest Minneapolis bungalow neighborhoods: tidy 1920s bungalows and storybook Tudors on leafy streets a few blocks off Lake Harriet, most of them owned by families who have been there twenty, thirty, forty years. And every one of those homes has the thing a Dallas or Houston hauler literally cannot offer a customer — a full basement. Add the attic under the roofline and the detached garage off the alley, and you have three decades of storage: the workbench nobody used, the holiday bins, kids' furniture that never left, an old chest freezer, paint cans, camping gear, and the boxes that quietly migrated down during a couple of remodels.
Clearing all of that is our single most common job in this corner of the city. We send a crew that clears the whole basement, the attic and the detached garage, carries every piece up the narrow stairs and across the yard themselves, and hands you one flat number that already covers the labor, the disposal, the drive and Minnesota sales tax. No hourly meter, no "call for a quote," no re-price when they see how full it actually got.
Carried up the basement stairs — no surcharge
The wrinkle with a bungalow basement is the staircase: narrow, steep interior stairs with a turn at the bottom, sometimes a bulkhead door out to the yard. That is exactly where a lot of haulers start adding fees or quietly bumping the price at the door. We don't. The crew brings it all up those stairs — the dressers, the exercise gear, the dead appliances, the fifty boxes — and the flat quote never moves because of the stairs. No basement fee, no per-flight charge, no surprise on the invoice.
Two Minneapolis realities we handle without blinking: damp, musty spring-melt boxes (the moment the ground thaws, the low corner of a lot of these basements gets a little wet — the cardboard goes soft and that's fine, we bag it and carry it), and winter access (snow-packed alley, icy garage apron — we haul in the snow, no winter surcharge).
What we clear in Fulton, Armatage & Lynnhurst
- Full basement cleanouts — the whole basement carried up the stairs: boxes, old furniture, tools, damp storage, the workbench.
- Detached garage cleanouts — the alley garage emptied, often on the same visit as the basement.
- Attic clear-outs — decades of bins and stored goods brought down from under the roofline.
- Downsizing & pre-listing clears — getting a long-held bungalow broom-clean before a move or a sale (a common need before a Minneapolis TISH listing evaluation).
- Appliances & exercise gear — an old washer, dryer, fridge or chest freezer (freon documented), a treadmill or home gym out of the basement.

Why not just use the city's bulk pickup?
You can, for a couple of items — but it doesn't clear a basement. The City of Minneapolis Large Item Collection gives municipal garbage customers one free bulk pickup a year, then $30 an item, and crews take up to two large items a week if you drag them to the curb by 6 a.m. on your pickup day (scheduled at 612-673-2917). For a forty-year basement full of boxes and furniture — none of which you're carrying up those stairs to the alley two pieces at a time — that program simply doesn't fit. That's our lane: same-week, full-service, inside the home, carried up from the basement, as many items as it takes, one flat price.
We donate first, then dump
Usable furniture and household goods go to Bridging — the Twin Cities furniture bank — along with Goodwill and the Salvation Army, and we divert e-waste and appliances the right way instead of sending them straight to the transfer station. It keeps good pieces in the neighborhood, trims the disposal side of the job, and on a downsizing or estate clear it comes with a donation receipt for your records.
What Fulton customers say
"Thirty-five years in the same Fulton bungalow and the basement showed it — boxes gone soft after the spring thaw, a workbench, an old chest freezer. They carried every bit up those tight stairs and did the alley garage the same day. Flat price from a photo, never budged."
"Cleared my mom's attic and basement in Armatage before we listed the house. Careful, quick, and they donated most of the furniture to Bridging with a receipt. One number, scheduled that week."
"Lynnhurst garage packed to the rafters plus an old washer and dryer down in the basement. Hauled up and out, no stair fee, and they were fine working around the snow in the alley."
