How does a photo quote work?
Take a picture of the items and upload it, or text it to us. The items are identified and priced from our published Twin Cities list, and you see the full total — tax line included — before you book. Missed something? Send another photo and the quote updates.
What is the minimum order?
$75, before tax. A single sofa ($126) already meets it.
What is Minnesota’s Solid Waste Management tax?
A state tax on waste management services — collecting, hauling and disposing of waste. Household junk removal is taxed at 9.75% of the total. It’s separate from the general sales tax, and it applies to every hauler, not just us.
Do businesses pay a different rate?
Yes. Commercial customers fall under the state’s commercial SWM rate of 17%, and construction debris is taxed by volume. We confirm which applies before you book.
Is there tax on jobs in Hudson, Wisconsin?
Minnesota’s SWM tax doesn’t apply to pickups on the Wisconsin side.
Do basement stairs or walk-ups cost extra?
No. The price is the same whether the item is in the basement, on the third floor, or in the garage.
When is truck-fill pricing cheaper?
For bigger jobs — a basement, a garage, a whole house. Truck-fill runs from $241 for a quarter load to $732 for a full sixteen-cubic-yard truck, and the quote charges whichever total is lower.
Booking & Pickup Day
How soon can a crew come?
Usually within a day or two; same-day depends on where you are and how big the job is. Same-day doesn’t cost more.
Do you work through the winter?
Yes. Crews plan around snow emergencies and parking bans, and morning windows give the most daylight in December and January.
Do I need to be home?
No. Many customers leave items in an open garage or share a door code, then get photos when the job is done.
Who does the hauling?
Vetted local hauling crews who work through JunkRabbit. You book and communicate with us; they bring the truck and the muscle.
Can you work in downtown towers?
Yes. Send your building’s certificate-of-insurance requirements and freight-elevator rules when you book.
What We Take
Can you take appliances and old TVs?
Yes. Minnesota bans major appliances and tube TVs from the trash, so everything goes to recycling: a refrigerator is $164 and a 42–65 inch TV $68.
Do you take paint?
Yes, priced separately because it needs special handling: $30 for a one-gallon can and $52 for a five-gallon bucket.
Do you remove hot tubs and pianos?
Yes. A hot tub is $322 and an upright piano $290, each with the crew it needs.
What happens to everything you take?
Usable furniture goes to donation first, appliances and electronics to recyclers, and the rest to licensed disposal facilities.
City Programs
How does Minneapolis large-item pickup work?
City garbage customers in one- to four-unit buildings can set out two large items a week, labeled “For Solid Waste,” by 6 a.m. Appliances, electronics, and mattresses go on recycling day. Building materials and disassembled furniture aren’t collected. See the bulk pickup guide.
How does St. Paul bulky pickup work?
Homes with city carts get twelve free bulky items a year, labeled and set by the cart. After twelve, each item carries a fee plus tax. Mattresses have a separate free program.
