How much does junk removal cost in Minneapolis?
One sofa is $126. A queen mattress is $103. A garage that’s quietly filled up for years is usually a half truck, $431. Every number below is what you actually pay in the Twin Cities — flat, quoted from a photo before anyone drives out, with carry-out, loading and disposal already inside it.

What actually moves the number here
Less than people expect. Stairs don’t change your price, and neither does same-day. What moves it is weight, volume, and where the load has to go.
Expensive metro tipping
The City transfer station’s public rate for mixed loads is around $117.86/ton — one of the highest in our markets. Heavy loads genuinely cost more to put down here, which is why we price from a photo rather than guess.
Costs trending up
HERC, the county waste-to-energy plant, is slated to close between 2028 and 2040. Capacity leaving a metro pushes disposal costs up, not down.
Dense material
Concrete, tile and roofing price by weight rather than volume, so a modest masonry pile can outprice a room of furniture.
The City programme takes large items — on request
Minneapolis and St. Paul both run large-item collection, and it works: request it, pay any applicable item fee, leave it out on your day.
What it doesn’t do is come inside. Basement and upper-floor carry-outs, whole-unit turnovers and estate clear-outs are all outside it, and a request-and-wait cycle rarely matches a closing date or a lease end.

Does the price change between Minneapolis and St. Paul?
No. Both cities and the surrounding suburbs use the same flat list.
Do you carry items up from a basement?
Yes, at no extra charge — that’s the main thing city large-item collection won’t do.
Is there a surcharge for winter or stairs?
No. The quoted price covers the carry-out year-round.
What won’t you take?
Paint, chemicals, pressurized propane, asbestos and medical waste have separate disposal routes.
Is Minnesota’s waste tax added on top of the quote?
It’s already inside it. Minnesota’s Solid Waste Management tax applies to this service, so we build it into the number you’re quoted rather than surprising you with a line at the door — the quote is the charge.
