Winter Junk Removal in
Minneapolis
Most haulers go quiet from November to March. We don't. We haul in the snow — snow-packed driveways, icy front steps and a tight alley to the detached garage are just the job here — and there's no winter surcharge: the flat price is the same in January as it is in July. Whether it's a January declutter, a snowbird downsizing before you head south, or a basement you finally want empty, we carry it out. One flat, photo-quoted price with the ~9.025% Minnesota sales tax already inside it. From a $75 minimum.

The one thing nobody else will do: haul in the snow
Winter in Minneapolis is long, and for four or five months the junk-removal options quietly dry up. The City's bulk program still wants everything curbside by 6 a.m. — good luck dragging a sleeper sofa across an icy boulevard in February — and a lot of haulers either shut down for the season or start adding a weather premium when the forecast turns. That's the gap we built this around: we haul November through March, snow and ice included, with no winter surcharge. It's the single most unaddressed pain in this market, and we'd rather own it than dodge it.
The flat, photo-quoted price you get in January is the same number you'd get in July. No snow fee, no ice fee, no cold-weather line item — just the labor, the disposal, the drive and Minnesota sales tax, already inside one figure that doesn't move at the door.
Winter access is our normal
The stuff that stops other crews is the everyday here, and we come equipped for it:
- Snow-packed driveways. We don't need it plowed to the pavement — the crew works the conditions and carries it out. You don't shovel a path first.
- Icy front & basement steps. The trickiest part of any winter haul is footing on the steps. We take it slow, protect the thresholds, and bring the load out safely.
- Tight, snowed-in alley garages. The detached garage off a narrow alley is hard to reach in a foot of snow — we hand-carry down the alley when we have to, no access surcharge.
- No curb-drag, ever. Everything comes out of the unit or the garage; nothing gets staged on a snowbank by the boulevard.
Why people call us in winter
- The January declutter. The holidays are over, everyone's indoors, and the basement, closets and spare room suddenly feel unbearable. A quiet weekend clear-out is the classic January job.
- Snowbird & pre-departure downsizing. Retirees heading to Arizona or Florida for the winter, or downsizing out of the family home, often want extra furniture, a basement, or a whole house cleared before they leave. We schedule around your departure date.
- New couch, new appliance. The old sofa or the dead washer that has to go the same week the replacement arrives — winter doesn't pause deliveries.
- Estate & move cleanouts. Closings, estate settlements and lease-ends don't wait for spring; we clear them in the cold at the same flat price.

The city's bulk pickup in January? Not really.
On paper the City of Minneapolis Large Item Collection runs year-round — one free bulk pickup a year, then $30 an item, two items a week, curbside by 6 a.m. on your pickup day (612-673-2917). In practice, winter breaks it: you're expected to haul the piece out to a snow-covered curb before dawn, it still caps at two items, and it does nothing for a basement or a garage you can't even get to under the snow. On-demand is the only thing that actually works in the cold — we come to the unit, carry it out through the snow, take as many items as it takes, one flat price with the tax already inside.
Still donation-first, even in the cold
Winter doesn't change where things go. Usable furniture and household goods are routed to Bridging, the Twin Cities furniture bank, along with Goodwill and the Salvation Army; metal, e-waste and appliances are diverted through the Hennepin County system rather than dumped. On a downsizing or estate clear it comes with a donation receipt. Reuse first, whatever the temperature.
What Minneapolis customers say
"Called three places in January and two wouldn't come until spring. These folks showed up in the snow, carried a sleeper sofa and a dead washer up the icy basement steps, and charged exactly the flat price they quoted. No winter fee at all."
"Heading to Arizona for the winter and wanted the basement cleared before we left. They scheduled around our flight, donated most of it to Bridging with a receipt, and worked around a foot of snow in the alley. Flat price, tax in."
"Post-holiday declutter in a Whittier walk-up — junk down three icy flights. I expected a snow surcharge; there wasn't one. Same flat number they'd texted, done the next day."
